The original house is the front (left) section: 2 rooms up and down, each with a fireplace. The chimney in the middle served all the fireplaces and acted as a radiator.

Parson Joseph Capen built this house in 1683 in Topsfield, Massachusetts. This post, first published in 2014, is being revised based on a better understanding of the geometry. He ministered to the town from 1682 until his death in 1726. The house open for visitors in the summer.
