It is directionally right because it is exactly the kind of “gentle density” that we need and that many of us hope to see in our cities. Four to six storeys, prototypically built on an as-of-right basis all across city, possibly by small-scale owner/developers.

Zaha Hadid Architects has shared photos of its newly inaugurated Zhuhai Jinwan Civic Art Centre in southern China. The Australian Institute of Architects has named its winners for the 2023 National Architecture Awards as part of a special event held recently at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. The Awards’ 42nd overall edition drew a total of 47 winners across ten categories from a 70-entry shortlist and represents the best examples of adaptive reuse, sustainable design, creative approaches to creating high density, and a “connection to Country,” according to the organization.

Henning Larsen has been announced as the winner of a draft design competition to transform Prague Central Station into a modern rail hub for the capital region named Nový Hlavák. The project will increase passenger capacity for an existing Hlavni Nadrazi terminal and train hall while enhancing a connection to Vrchlického Sady Park, forming an optimized destination at the heart that’s based around principles of micro-mobility and pedestrianism.

The design of KPF’s Tower 36 has been approved by the Miami Urban Development Review Board. Developed in collaboration with architect of record ODP Architecture & Design , the 922,000-square-foot tower will hold both office and retail functions. Sustainability begins with a conversation, and acquiring customer buy-in is entirely dependent on how the conversation is framed. Clients may not see sustainability as a priority out of fear of operational costs and quality. While these are legitimate concerns, it is our responsibility as architects to listen and foster a collaborative culture that answers client issues while also reducing our carbon footprint.
