Berlin citizens propose law to ban cars from city centre

The city government will now formally consider the petition, with a decision due to be announced in February. Residents would only be permitted to use a car or van up to 12 times a year, for special circumstances such as moving house. If the city rejects their proposal, they will need to increase the number to 175,000.
