“Mondrian Singapore Duxton’s overall façade is an attempt to imbue a minimalist and modern design adaptation that is true to its time, yet still responding and reflecting the traditional shophouse typology.” Carter was taken with the big idea of the deconstructed shophouse. GOA undertook the masterplan and design of the whole project, where Jianli Art Center acts as the gateway of the old main street, the core of the whole project. Paved with grey stone slabs, it extends more than 300 meters from east to west, and the art center sits at the east end. The art center features an steel structure system.
