Thanks to the design review panel which rejected original two story designs and thanks to a slow flow of funding the design eventually shrank to a simple single story rectangle steel frame structure clad in narrow horizontal wood planks and white stair enclosure "bulkheads" popping up on the roof. They can also host modest roof-top parties.

On site, the method of identifying the panels is definitely old school – a fat magic marker with the panel tag written on the exterior face. This Old House did a remodel a few years ago in Texas they called the Austin Green Project (episodes available online) where they achieved a 5 star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building Program.

Lyday Farms Site Plan (click to enlarge) The main house (legend keys 1 through 6 above) is actually two buildings divided by the dog trot and connected under one continuous roof. Our idea was to have the buildings be as color neutral as possible to allow the green of the grass and trees dominate the visual. What a great choice.
