Wave-shaped roofs top cultural space in Shanghai by Wutopia Lab

Chinese studio Wutopia Lab has used wave-shaped roofs of blue aluminium and translucent fabric to transform an industrial yard in Shanghai into a mixed-use cultural space. A fully glazed wall with a wave-like pattern fronts this space, overlooking the red-coloured square onto which it opens through golden doors.

Britsom Philips reconfigures Belgian home with minimalist interiors and thatched roof

Belgian studio Britsom Philips has completed Villa VD, a timber-clad extension to a small rural home in Flanders with minimalist, light-filled living spaces. Extending southwards, the longest portion of the building contains a large kitchen and dining space organised around a stone island and breakfast bar.

Dutch studio Francois Verhoeven Architects has completed Villa K340, a house in The Hague formed of interlocking blocks finished with contrasting timber and plaster. The garage at the front of the home is topped by a green roof. The studio also completed Villa SG21, a blackened wood home with a turfed roof in Rotterdam.

MAD reveals design for Lishui Airport with swooping "bird-like" roof

Chinese architecture studio MAD has unveiled its design for the Lishui Airport in China , which will feature a swooping white roof informed by soaring birds. Departure spaces will be located on the ground floor with waiting areas on the mezzanine first floor, and the airport will also feature a sunken car park.
