Led by Brad Wales, a clinical assistant professor at the university’s Department of Architecture, the initiative forms part of a design-build program within the school called the Small Built Works Project. Following last week’s visit to Seattle’s LMN Architects, we are moving our Meet Your Next Employer series across the border to Toronto, Canada, where we find high-end designers Yabu Pushelberg. Founded in 1980 in Ontario by business and life partners George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, the firm has grown over three decades from its interior design routes to now encompass carefully crafted architecture, interiors, landscapes, lighting, products, graphics and branding.

Montauk Sofa reclaimed this aging building on an up and coming portion of St-Laurent Boulevard in downtown Montreal into an upscale boutique furniture retail outlet and showroom. From conception the project sought to expand the idea of retail development into an urban amenity for the mutual benefit of both business and the urban context. The building had been constructed in many phases with many renovations, for many uses, over many years.

The plan for Rye House was to expand the 1800 square foot home to fit a contemporary lifestyle while creating a dialogue between old-modern and new-modern. The idea was to preserve the modernist philosophy by the original architect Ulrich Franzen while renovating the home to be forward looking, flexible, easy to maintain, and connect with the natural surroundings.

Nakahouse is an abstract remodel of a 1960's hillside house located on a West facing ridge in the Hollywood Hills, just below the Hollywood sign. To the South and West are canyon views; to the East is a protected natural ravine, with a view of Griffith Park Observatory in the distance. The existing home was built as a series of terraced volumes on the downslope property.

Located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, Niseko is renowned around the world for its winter powder snow. HANAZONO EDGE project lies at the core of one of four interlinked ski resorts, Niseko United, Hanazono Resort ski facilities, all of which are nestled within Niseko Annupuri mountain terrain. Architecture studio MAD has completed its first social housing development, which consists of 12 residential buildings in Beijing connected by raised walkways and a "floating park". Named Baiziwan, the development near the Central Business District in east Beijing is divided by roads into six areas that contain multiple apartment blocks. The blocks were built around green spaces, which are connected by raised walkways.

The project, called Night + Day House, is located in San Francisco 's Noe Valley neighbourhood.
