Double-thick eight-inch concrete walls fitted with foam insulation extend up to the roof on the low side. Clerestory windows enclose the triangular space between the roof and concrete walls.

HGA has created a pair of mass-timber buildings at Bowdoin College in Maine While different in size and colour, the buildings have asymmetrical pitched roofs that "play off each other from different vantage points". US studio CCY Architects has clad a mountainside house in patinated copper panels and tilted the roof to adhere with the topography of its site in Colorado. Known as DNA Alpine, the 4,000-square foot (372-square metre) home was completed in 2022 and designed to "disappear into or somehow become" the 75-acre site in San Miguel County.
