SO-IL designs Massachusetts museum with undulating CLT roof

Architecture studio SO-IL has unveiled designs for the Williams College Museum of Art in the Berkshires , which will be topped with a tent-like cross-laminated timber roof. The undulating cross-laminated timber roof will be laid atop these volumes, unifying them below. It is punctuated by glazed openings dispersed along its facade.

Desai Chia creates “winged" roofs for Copake Lake House in New York

US studio Desai Chia Architecture designed a highly sculptural, waterfront home wrapped in concrete and charred cypress that has vaulted roofs resembling wings. Roughly rectangular in plan, the dwelling has cutouts, cantilevers and multiple sloped roofs that combine in a sculptural way. Desai Chia created "winged" roofs for the house.

Kaan Architecten adds "monumental" visitor centre to second world war cemetery

To respect the cemetery's existing "monumental ensemble" and reference American memorial architecture, the studio created a concrete and glass form that would "claim its own space while blending into the greater whole". Supported by the internal concrete walls, this allows a small light gap to be created between the facade and the roof.
