The design has been led by OMA Partner Iyad Alsaka and developed by Dhaka-based real estate developer Shanta Holdings. Dhaka Tower is the first landmark building of this scale in a new commercial district located at the edge of Tejgaon. Fifty years after independence, Bangladesh is the second largest economy in South Asia.

The development of the 2020 Canadian National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) included a code change request (PCF 1541) to reduce the maximum allowable fenestration and door-to wall ratio, primarily in commercial buildings. The lobby is not only a concierge area but also plays a role of artwork gallery simultaneously to respond to the characters of the neighboring art zone.
