SOM-designed towers planned atop Chicago Spire site finally set to begin construction this year

The site was originally reserved for the Chicago Spire , a 2,000-foot tall, twisted tower designed by Santiago Calatrava. Left as a mere hole in the ground, the site was acquired in 2014 by developer Related Midwest with a proposal to build two sister luxury apartment towers.

Glasgow School of Art enters Phase 2 of its Mackintosh Building restoration

More than 5,500 tons of fire-damaged material was removed from the site, and a thorough evaluation of the building was undertaken. At the time of the blaze, the Mackintosh Building had been undergoing extensive restoration due to an earlier fire that damaged the site in 2014.
