This year, we learned what the City of Eugene , University of Oregon , Lane Community College , and Atkins Dame, Inc.

The Industrial Trust Bank Building (1928) in downtown Providece, R.I. That caused downtown’s black hole even more than its absent tenants, mostly Bank of America workers who probably did far less to enliven the area – work and then drive home at 5 sharp – than will the lucky residents of the proposed 285 units.

Compared with today, then the downtown streets were teaming with life, shopping still happened downtown but a sense of doom hung in the air: Redlining, blockbusting, "new towns" and suburban malls fueled "white flight" and setting the stage for a shrinking city. A mere 60 years later, the dominoes are falling one by one. everywhere.
