Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto explains how his stacked-cube learning centre in Switzerland is one of the most significant projects of his career in this instalment of Dezeen's Concrete Icons series produced in collaboration with Holcim. Fujimoto used Holcim's low-carbon ECOPact concrete for the project.

Other projects completed by the studio include the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado and the renovation of Museum of Modern Art in New York. The previous instalment in the series focuses on MAD's sinuous Cloudscape library in Haikou, China. According to Diller, the museum was designed to feel "extremely welcoming".

Black Nero Portoro marble floors and walls are offset by a golden ceiling painted with a cloudscape in gold leaf. At 159m high, in black marble with a luminous crown, it can hold its own against the surrounding high-rise development – which is framed in fabulous urban views from The BaanTower’s huge windows.
