Inherited Service Space Marylebone Mews House shares the same history but with one large exception which complicated this house’s renovation – the plant room serving the larger house (now separated into flats) was still located in the mews house’s basement. Due to freeholder-leaseholder agreements this positioning had to be retained.

SMUD Headquarters Rehabilitation – Dreyfuss + Blackford designed the SMUD Headquarters building in the late-1950s and was commissioned 60 years later to renovate and rehabilitate the entire facility inside and out. Alterations and remodels over the years resulted in a dingy workspace unsuited for current and future generations of staff.

It turned out that my group was even smaller than promised and the bus, the driver and our very informed guide Liyuba were available for just five of us for the entire program plus pick-up and drop off. It was taken down in 1959 after the Cuban revolution, restored in 1999 and, more recently, underwent renovation in 2020.
