Five anonymous proposals for the Bezos Learning Center: Can you spot the starchitects?

Five design proposals have been unveiled for the Bezos Learning Center at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. The $130 million Smithsonian scheme, funded by a $200 million donation from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos , will serve as an education center on the topics of air and space exploration. The center will be built on the site of a recently-demolished glass pyramid pavilion designed by the late architect Gyo Obata , which opened in 1988.

Nonresidential construction spending increased by 0.8% in July, carried by gains in public projects

National nonresidential construction spending has increased by a modest 0.8% in July, according to an analysis of government spending data from the U.S. Census Bureau by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $847.6 billion last month. Spending increased on a monthly basis in 13 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories, with declines in sewage and waste disposal, water supply, and health care.
