The roof answers dilemmas caused by the city’s ongoing development by connecting the transportation hub’s complex programs in a clearly readable unit. On top of this landscape an environment of commercial surfaces with street furniture and protected zones gives an organic and soft expression.

Together with HLM Arkitektur from Bergen, engineering company DIFK from Oslo and Neill Woodger Acoustic and Theatre Design from London, C.F. In addition to the arena, the project consists of two superblocks with 800 homes, large green courtyards, a modern multi-storey car park and a new public transport terminal for buses and light rail.

The new ecological zones are designed to accommodate social and cultural activities and sports with parks and pavilions. Bao’an remains accessible with mobility hubs, robust public transport, and an extensive network for local, slow traffic. Grey matter becomes green space, with water at the heart of the area’s identity.
