The design brief for Snow House was simple: to design a home that honours the French snow scene and comprises sustainable elements, to maximise the restoration of natural features. In a nod to their creative vision, Architects Tom Mark Henry translated this notion – commonly seen on runways and in media – by designing an architectural embodiment of the concept — the Bronte Beach House. Located amongst the hubbub of delivery trucks, bicycles, and a never ending procession of vehicle traffic, this project sits within a minute 1,722-square-foot site, backing on to a key commercial precinct within Cremorne in Melbourne. The layout is an intentional departure from the typical open plan plug-in to the back of an older house.
