The new extension is elevated in response to the flood-prone site, creating a series of terraced floorplates that present opportunities for the formation of interesting spaces within the house. Our office was engaged for the design and permit approvals. It was very much a labour of love on their part.

No tall building would be permitted on the waterfront except for the eventually constructed Ian Pei designed World Trade Center The waterfront would be protected as parks, public areas with a wide promenade. Some had seen decline coming.
