Oozing mortar joints create a "crusty crown" for The Brick House, a family home in Perth , Australia that has recently been completed by local practice Studio Roam. Located in the suburb of Highgate, the home replaces an existing cottage on the site that had been occupied by the clients for several years.

Architecture practice DGN Studio has extended a terraced home in east London with spaces and materials that form a backdrop to the client's mid-century furniture collection. Architecture studio Cairn has used hand-poured hempcrete to form the rough textured walls at House Made by Many Hands, an extension of a Victorian home in east London. As the client is a chef, the renovation centres around a large kitchen at the heart of the ground floor lit by a strip of skylights along one side.

Last week, we presented a housing scheme to our client. Both were quite received, although that the client slightly preferred mine, for its simplicity in planning (and perhaps the symmetry as well). when I cycle to the club, and he sends it to the client. I'll call the client tomorrow.

Liverpool studio Smith Young Architects has completed Vestige, a house in northwest England with a brick base built from the remnants of a previous structure on the site. It replaces an old house on the site that was in poor condition. Wooden finishes complement the tactile brickwork.
