MICA has completed a small but carefully designed extension to the Weston Studio for the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance on the School’s Violet Needham Chapel site in Twickenham. The studio was completed in time for use in the 2022-2023 academic year, and has been warmly received by staff and students at the School.

The Hampton House Extension client originally bought the property with a view to demolishing the original weatherboard Edwardian, however post purchase the house was then the Heritage listed, meaning we were compelled to retain the facade. Flowing from the retained original front section of the home is a bold contemporary form.

The clients did not like moving slowly! They wanted the kitchen to be an expanding zone, with the preparation zone opening and closing depending on the guests and functions they were holding.
