Claes Oldenburg had a special place in my formative years as an architecture student. In the end, he gifted each one of us a book about his large-scale projects and sent us to the steel shop where they were fabricating the Las Vegas "Flashlight." He was particularly influential on urban design, siting projects, and pop art.
