Mt Buller Ski Lodge, Victoria, Australia

When the roof on Mike and Keryn’s ski villa was upgraded, it created a new second-floor attic with a triangular window that filled the space with northern light. Our design began with the impractical attic space at the roof and wall junction. We removed a section of the attic floor to a double-height void over the first floor.

At the front of the properties, two sheds connected by a roof also connect to the house on either side, forming a square around this central courtyard. The materials were also chosen to be recessive – including a dull silver roof, black sheets and ironbark timber.
