Bendable battery among sustainable materials at San Francisco exhibition

Held in July, the BEACON exhibition was a one-day inaugural event featuring San Francisco-based companies exploring sustainable material science, technology and design. The event was held in a first-floor space of Building 12, a former steel manufacturing plant recently renovated and slated to open later this year.

The audience can access the top of the artwork, immerse themselves in the light and fog, and become a living monument. The artwork consists of circular metal steps traversed by a vertical beam of white light, from which artificial fog emanates. The beam of light extends into the sky, visible from afar.
