Located under the Highline on 24th st, the Lisson Gallery is a ground up project designed by studioMDA. Its unconventional location allows for a block-through building, making it a highly unique gallery in the heart of Chelsea, New York’s premier contemporary art district. The gallery has over 4000 s.f. for art handling.

In designing this new space, studioMDA has created a purpose-built gallery that acts as a Kunsthalle for displaying and viewing art with maximum spatial flexibility and daylight inside. On the one-story building’s roof is a new green scape that functions as a sculpture garden to be enjoyed by the city.
