The project was envisioned as a "modern reincarnation" of the hotel that once operated on the site. The building's terracotta tile roof was retained, as well. Named the House of Commerce, the headquarters is located on a prominent site in the oldest part of Nuremberg, between the main market square and the medieval church of St Sebald. Those that were restored date back to the 1950s and 1960s. Simple roof tiles were chosen to match those found on neighbouring buildings.

Meant as a second home for quiet retreats as well as larger gatherings, eventually the clients moved in permanently to take advantage of the scenery, outdoor activities, and remoteness of the rural site. A square pavilion will be added to the gallery grounds It will be angled 45 degrees to the gallery, intending to relate to the two entrances to the site, while circular windows will give views across the landscape. The pavilion will have an opening in the timber roof, filtering natural light into the centre of the space.

Renamed The Kodak, the building’s original façade has been sensitively restored, isolating the façade stones to remove corrosion on the existing steelwork, whilst minimising impact on the building’s heritage features. The arcaded Sandstone stone facade at ground floor has been restored with its red brick elevation and timber-encased windows above. Outside, the tiled roofs have been restored to preserve the traditional charm of the original buildings. In continuity with the internal ceilings, pergolas with wooden slats and a metal structure extend on both main sides of the volume, creating shaded and sheltered spaces, which create a gentle gradation between inside and outside.
