Her architecture studio, now called TenBerke , was founded in 1982, with projects including the Rockefeller Arts Center and the Cummins Indy Distribution Headquarters in Indianapolis. In 2003 she started her own practice, Studioilse, which has designed interiors for Soho House and Aesop , as well as furniture for IKEA.

The previously little-known area has mountainous and rolling pastoral scenery, whimsical, cosy character and a raft of popular towns and villages, such as Germantown (where the actor Chloe Sevigny has been spotted shopping) and Hudson.

“Design Image for a Modern house in the Hudson Valley. The house employs western red cedar, local sandstone, and salvaged oak flooring to lend a rustic feel to the architectural crispness. . Through the use of the section cut, the drawing reveals a glimpse of daily lives of Ethiopian women in the project.

The firm had recently completed a project converting an old textile mill into residential lofts. A legal dispute between one of the new loft owners and the project developers established a requirement for the floor area of all 300+ units to be individually surveyed and documented. Looking back, I can now see what they knew.
