The original design for the remodel, which the former presidents commented on, showed white walls and wood-clad pillars. The remodel of the extension will be done by US studio Selldorf Architects and has been heavily criticised. Changes turn "a finely conceived space into an airport lounge".

Photo by Conner Ryan Chicago-based architecture practice Studio Gang designed the masterplan for the park, while SCAPE carried out the landscaping, which included the remediation of the soil and the planting of more than a thousand trees. Studio Gang and SCAPE redesigned a park on the Memphis waterfront.

These latest updates are part of a masterplan conceived by Bennetts Associates, working with the theatre’s owners, Theatre of Comedy Limited. This latest phase has seen the remodelling of the space to bring it up to date for the modern-day visitor, while remaining sensitive to the theatre’s original features.

The building on the banks of the River Seine was originally constructed in the 1960s and has been refurbished, remodelled and extended by David Chipperfield Architects Berlin. They will be grouped around a soft landscape feature in a square bounded by perimeter blocks of the wider masterplan by Maccreanor Lavington Architects.
