England's housing developers have been given an ultimatum - commit to repairing unsafe buildings or be banned from operating in the market. Developers now have six weeks to sign a government contract to fix their unsafe buildings from the past 30 years. According to the government's new plan, homeowners living in buildings whose construction poses a potential fire risk will be reimbursed, and building companies who installed the unsafe cladding must pay to replace it with a safer material.

This Stockholm bolt-hole offers a taste of 1960s design

Timeless and contemporary, this 1966 Stockholm apartment by Swedish architect Kjell Ödeén was conceived using a material palette that would last at least 100 years. Snickaren 15 is a five-storey mixed-use building completed by Ödeén in the central district Vasastan and is one of Stockholm’s best-maintained 1960s buildings. This 43 sqm apartment takes things a step further, retaining the original teak cabinetry, window frames, kitchen, Gabon doors, and bathroom tiling.
