The sunken connection The design brief asked for a 36-m raised platform connection by Wanghai Road. Four extensive valley-like openings are shaped to ensure smooth pedestrian flows along the site between levels. The curved facade comes alive as the day goes by, subtly playing its own visual symphony with light.

The back fence and borrowed landscape provides an ambiguous back-drop to the interior, as one enters a full width, double height living zone, formed by the simple extrusion of the profile of the federation house it abuts. Simple ideas, but generous in their ultimate influence of the design approach and therefore the form of the finished home.
