Interior renovation included re-designing the bathrooms and the kitchen / dining area, creating airy relaxed spaces featuring natural materials and playful accents. The classic features of the house were expressed further by modern brass fixtures by Vola and brass light switches by Forbes and Lomax.

Inherited Service Space Marylebone Mews House shares the same history but with one large exception which complicated this house’s renovation – the plant room serving the larger house (now separated into flats) was still located in the mews house’s basement. Due to freeholder-leaseholder agreements this positioning had to be retained.

In the end, thanks to those investments and the efforts of the entire project team, the renovated Hotel Maytag now serves as a remarkable historic resource for visitors and residents alike. I was living in Cambridge, Mass at the time, so I went to work as a carpentry contractor. There was an interior designer and we ended up getting a structural engineer involved. The same goes for tracking time, managing expenses, collaborating with contractors and viewing financial reports. I did exactly that.
