These may be done with simple hand sketches, Sketch-Up models or even Computer Assisted Design (CAD) drawings, but they will tend to be very diagrammatic and simple. Sometimes during the Schematic Design phase, several or even many alternative approaches are created for the client’s review and comment.

The south entrance leads to a new campus plaza and a soon-to-be-installed pedestrian bridge connecting to Bristow Square in the heart of the campus. The second phase of design developed this concept in detail. Fortis Construction is the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the project.

Most of the time I coordinate these site visits with some milestone or because the contractor has a question that requires my presence on site to answer … but I go by the job site even more than required because I truly enjoy being on site and watching how things come together. That plan is the sketch I’ve included just above.
