What was the brief? Reitsma & Associates were requested to maximise the 360-degree outlook on top of the property’s knoll.

This sophisticated minimalistic home, located in Mooloolaba on a south-facing water block, showcases a unique design approach that balances privacy, views, and ventilation in a densely populated residential area. With its distinctive use of raw concrete, the theory behind the home is a solid form with the livable spaces carved out.

Surrounded by High-rise construction either side this would be the only house left in the street, it had to be excellent, not wasting a single inch of the expensive development potential site. In an unusual move, our brief went against the typical trend. The built home may be modest in size yet is rich in thought, detail and specification.

The project is a major renovation to an existing dilapidated single-storey brick house. For years, the original house that sat on this block was renowned in the suburb for the trouble it caused. Living spaces with generous volumes overflow seamlessly towards the alfresco and outdoor living. From pram storage through to animal sleeping quarters.
