Set about three miles from the center of Helsinki, the building was meant to be absolutely massive, housing a museum, library, amphitheater, lecture hall, reading room, ballroom, workshops and galleries for artists, and a number of apartments, all surrounding a 16-sided, 262-foot-tall pantheon. Homer Hall was built in 1957 and South Hall in 1985.
