Construction began in October 2018 • The first phase of the project was completed successfully in 2019. Deeply buried layers of dense concrete had to be extracted, impacting on the sequencing of the works while managing the unique complexity of the engineering works. Just over 800 cubic metres of concrete were removed from site.

The museum, which was founded in 1937, has been closed to the public since 2019 while it underwent its major expansion and renovation. Its new addition runs through the center of the entire building like a stem, unifying and reorganizing the Museum’s existing functions and enabling a seamless flow through the building and across the site.
