The roof was computationally optimized to be constructed and installed on site in just 15 segments. The whole masterplan, the 116 acre park and its 7 buildings, were built in just three short years. The roof sits on the inner bowl and cantilevers out over the lobby to support the outer shell, a spectacular steel and glass diagrid.

The school, convent and chapel are situated cheek by jowl on an extremely tight site, which presented both physical constraints and logistical challenges to the project. The masterplan included the restacking of the school, with early years located at the lower level, rising to Year 6/Key Stage 2 on the upper floors.

Founded in 1867, the university was designated a ‘National Treasure’ in 2016 by The National Trust for Historic Preservation. The mixed-use development comprises offices and residential areas in addition to hospitality, retail and leisure space.
