From the Centre Pompidou in Paris (1976), to the Lloyd’s building in London (1984), his work had huge influence on the architectural world. There were a number of British architectural programmes on television that analysed his buildings alongside the other two major UK architects – Norman Foster and James Stirling.

The campus is more than 50 years old, but until 2016 when the grove was completed, its central hub was an undistinguished plot of trees and walkways with little to no civic presence.

The material selection was informed by strict planning requirements to mirror the brick of the existing school. A new group room supports one-to-one learning and a “calm space” for children and a small niche in the corridor provides the opportunity for informal reading. We are very pleased.”
