The short description is that the site had to be cleared (architectural speak for scraping the dirt and landscaping away as needed), the piers have been drilled (holes dug into the ground down to rock which will be filled with concrete and rebar) and formwork is getting set. We had shop drawings but somehow what was in the drawings didn’t show up on the job site. We have been attending regularly scheduled job site meetings that occur once a week. The last site visit was to do an inspection on the installed aluminum window “boxes” that are a major design feature on this house.

In order to reach all points on the site without damaging the trees, the contractor had to use a concrete pump truck with a giant arm on it. The only saving grace, as all the concrete guys were laughing, was that the contractor was standing right next to me and got covered as well. That’s called “doing your job.”
