Olson Kundig has expanded into the Midwest market with a new Chicago location that bridges its already bi-coastal New York and Seattle operations after 57 years in the industry. The firm will now work out of a new space in the city's Fulton Market there and says their move will precipitate a new central hub for global business while supporting a growing body of work locally that began twenty years ago.

Ahead of the summer's Olympic Games in Paris, the New York Times has previewed LEGO's timely launch of its new Notre-Dame Cathedral model. The set retails for $229.99 and is part of the company's AFOL 18 and over series. The real Notre-Dame’s reconstruction, meanwhile, is set to wrap up in December. “Once you complete it, you can actually look through the front door,” one ameteur builder told the Times.

Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki , who designed buildings including 4 World Trade Center and was one of the founders of metabolism , has died aged 95. A winner of both the Pritzker Architecture Prize and the AIA Gold Medal , Maki passed away on 6 June due to natural causes, his studio Maki and Associates told Dezeen. "Fumihiko Maki lived a life of remarkable achievement and fulfillment, encircled by a wealth of esteemed professionals, academic colleagues, patrons, as well as cherished friends,"

Local studio Atelier Janda Vanderghote has used simple materials to create the T(uin)Huis Atelier garden studio in Ghent , Belgium. Although originally intended to be a woodworking studio, the building was designed to be flexible, currently acting as a temporary home for the owners while building work is carried out on their house. The studio sits at the end of a garden and borders a plant-filled park that helped inform its design.

Contractor Brett Bickford recently described his firm DPR's work on their “dream job” constructing the new 76-story KPF -designed The Waterline skyscraper in Austin. The project that will yield 2.7 million square feet of space and a mixed-use program that includes 351 luxury residences, a 251-key hotel, and 700,000-square-foot office component will become the state’s new tallest building in 2026.
