Dutch architecture office Studio Prototype has built a house with a hexagonal footprint in an area of Amsterdam with relaxed planning regulations. Edge House is located in Route 1066, an area in Nieuw Sloten where landowners have the greater freedom to build as long as houses meet certain criteria.

The study’s proposals, released in 1959, would have replaced much of the fabled district’s historical houses with modernist infill, although most of the houses condemned as examples of “blight” were eminently salvageable, as history demonstrated. Many now sell for millions. Beatrice O.

A path leads through a grove of camellias in the Woodland Garden, down to the Leach House next to Johnson Creek. “We We wanted that project so badly,” a friend told me when I mentioned my upcoming visit in May to the Leach Botanical Garden in Portland, Oregon. And at one point, pages of the list fell off the truck.

The City continues to generate large projects that are all described as "world class", "game changers" or as " the biggest in the nation ". All those projects are supposed to, in one way or another, pull the city out of its spiral of shrinkage and crime. Regardless, why do these project never "change the game" in Baltimore?

At Quarry House, TEN x TEN uses Minnesota stone and lissome birch sculpt a residential garden in three dimensions. In their recognition of the project, the Landezine awards jury described the atmosphere of the yard as “rich,” “dense,” and “mysterious.” Quarry Garden is only the third residential project by TEN x TEN, Rockcastle says.
