Experts estimate the the current infection level in the US to be about ten times the nearly 4 million confirmed cases , i.e. about 10-15%. It is not known what level of the population would have to have been infected to obtain herd immunity but to achieve 70% at the rate of the last 6 months would require at least 2 more years.
