The new addition had to be elevated substantially to meet the stringent freeboard requirements by the local government’s water authority (Melbourne Water), and ensure that any overland flow paths are unimpeded. Our office was engaged for the design and permit approvals. It was very much a labour of love on their part.

Local government is mostly responsible for the distribution of aid to affected families, longshoremen and businesses. In addition, 553 contract specialists are actively involved in various roles related to dive, crane, and vessel operations. Other key parties involved in the recovery are the Army Corps of Engineers and the Coast Guard.
