Separated by the bioswale, another small plaza is bordered by sandstone reclaimed from the site and arranged in terraced stair seating that matches the sandstone foundations of the house—room enough for a small outdoor classroom. On the opposite side will be drawings on ceramic tile that Pozo sketched from photos of Owens.

When we receive a contract for a new project, we all want to jump right into designing. Before we grab the roll of trace and start sketching with the Sharpie, we gather as much information about the users of our buildings as possible. When we listen carefully throughout the project, our clients and contractors will guide us to success.

Most of the time I coordinate these site visits with some milestone or because the contractor has a question that requires my presence on site to answer … but I go by the job site even more than required because I truly enjoy being on site and watching how things come together.
