HGA has created a pair of mass-timber buildings at Bowdoin College in Maine While different in size and colour, the buildings have asymmetrical pitched roofs that "play off each other from different vantage points". Both buildings also have mass timber frames, wooden interior finishes and brick facades. The photography is by Michael Moran.

The waterfront site occupies the land by the side of the road where ocean views are obstructed by the foredune—a common constraint of Midland’s Beach. The descending topography of the site allowed for a boat to be tucked beneath the floorboards. Our solution was to connect living spaces with the land and sleeping areas to the sky.

The Oklahoma River runs alongside the site. In 1997, Johnson Fain was commissioned to assist with site selection and programming, and in 2000, the studio was hired to design the museum. The design also embodies respect for nature, which is central to the First Americans' culture and beliefs. Work resumed in 2016.

Visually and aurally connected, the three levels of the home are united by the vertical slot window and adjacent void, crowned by a transom window on the south-facing roof and a stairwell leading to the pool level on the north.
