Here I was using Autocad for detailed plans, Elevations and Sections, photoshop for applying colour, Archicad for quick 3d views, acrobat for compiling everything into design brochures to submit to the client. It can be a pencil sketch, a physical model, freehand, drafting board, digital. But for me, drawing is central.

Also I had some kind of an image processing package, not as advanced as photoshop, but it's what I had. The other method was to just set up the basic perspective and then sketch over that by hand. This should be enough for me to get the proportions of my outline sketch roughly right. So I did the same on the canvas and sketched out the picture in pencil. I did some watercolour work in the early days of lock down almost a year ago, and since then, the nearest thing has been apple pencil or Samsung stylus or photoshop mouse.
