I’ve heard that architecture majors “have no social life” is that true? Part of this is a response to what your definition of “no social life” means. The other thing that students (and some professionals) struggle with is the time management associated with communicating your ideas.

The cases I designed were very basic in concept – recessed open-faced cabinets – but there were large swinging glass doors that either completely covered the case or swung completely out-of-the-way of the case so that you could access the entire line of products.

I use a 12″ wide x 50 yard long roll of trace paper , and an architectural scale (which is used to measure out dimensions as I sketch and I use the edge to tear the trace paper off the roll). On occasion, I will use a an Alvin 10″ Parallel Glider but normally only when I am sketching out dimensioned floor plan concepts.

When I was growing up I don’t even think I knew that the profession of architecture even existed. I grew up in a suburb south of Denver and I just was never exposed to the concept that people purposefully designed buildings. I loved architectural school, but I also know there’s times where you hate it.

The education of an architect intentionally and systematically breaks down the creative process “baggage” and untrained habits of their students, and then starts the process of rebuilding that process in a non-stigmatized environment. Derek Fordé I’m definitely a dreamer. Probably too much so.

She told me that she was finishing architecture school to prove a professor wrong that said she shouldn’t do it. I apologize for interrupting, but those are the ones that made it through because there are so many that probably hit that barrier in architecture school and said, I’m not dealing with this.
