Architecture studio MAD has revealed its design for an arts centre on a waterfront site in Guangdong, China , which will have an undulating form modelled on moving water. Encompassing 121,275 square metres, the mixed-use Nanhai Art Center will be divided into three buildings containing a theatre, museum and sports centre.

Renders of the tower, which will contain observation decks and restaurants, show a crystal-like structure made of numerous columns that taper towards the peak. The development will also contain buildings designed by Dutch practices UNStudio and Mecanoo , US studio Aedas and Australian studio Bureau Proberts.

Neom also revealed renders of the structure seemingly showing two possible options for the building. Named the Mountain Observatory, the building will overlook the central lake as part of a district within Trojena named Discover. The mountain-top building will overlook the resort's central lake.

Although full details of the building's use have not yet been revealed, the tower will contain shops, restaurants and exhibition spaces along with observation decks at three different levels.

MAD Architects unveiled the design for the Nanhai Art Center in Foshan City, Guangdong, which covers a total site area of 59,445 square meters and includes three major functions: the Grand Theatre, the Museum, and the Sports Center. The design intends to build a spiritual field by creating a coherent visual axis to the lake.

More than 11 residential towers, with heights ranging from 12 to 58 storeys, are planned for the development, as well as a series of smaller buildings. Glass facades will be punctuated with copper details on both structures, a material that was chosen for its "cultural significance" to the Squamish Nation.
