Through extensive consultation with the school and its governors, a masterplan was developed which captured the aspirations for school which was then divided into a two-phase development project. Collectively these create warm and tactile interior spaces and a calm yet sophisticated internal environment.

No tall building would be permitted on the waterfront except for the eventually constructed Ian Pei designed World Trade Center The waterfront would be protected as parks, public areas with a wide promenade.

A technical grid on the Warehouse ceiling permits any type of use, from concert to exhibition. It is a space that can create multiple opportunities and endless configurations and environments. The arches that once supported the historic viaduct known as the Pineapple Line are preserved as part of the foyer.
