Spaces at this tropical Mexican clubhouse unfurl like the dial of a watch face, offering panoramic views of the water and the mountains.

The clubhouse is the centrepiece of Valle San Nicolás, a new residential development masterplanned by Sordo Madaleno on the outskirts of Valle de Bravo in the State of Mexico. The private community is embedded in a 370-hectare natural site offering lake views, forest, and rugged Sierra terrain.

The halo-shaped building is the lynchpin of the community, housing relaxation and well-being facilities (a gym, sauna, steam and changing rooms, spa cabins, and outdoor Jacuzzi) as well as social spaces such as a bar, restaurant, and media room. According to the architects, its unusual circular design is inspired by a ‘boat anchored in the lake, as if it were floating on water.’

The 2021 building won several international design awards, and this plot of land, offered for sale via Mexico Sotheby’s International Realty for $1.775m (approximately $30 MXN), is closest to the clubhouse. Flat and ready to build on, it’s earmarked for a one-bedroom ranch-style investment home and benefits from views of the lake.

Valle San Nicolás also offers stables, a golf range, a tennis court and a swimming pool within the development.
