Urban Bloom by Spacemen MERGES architecture with sculpture

Spacemen studio designs the latest flagship for the Braun Buffel brand composing a series of conceptual spaces entitled ‘Urban Bloom’ that form organic installations in in-store retail environments. The concept draws from the visual intersection of a gallery and a laboratory, experimenting with the spatial design’s impact on human interest. Intending to draw people into the store located in Putrajaya, Malaysia, the centerpiece shapes an abstract interpretation of a living tree sprouting from the floor through to the ceiling. The moss-covered installation’s organic silhouette eschews the traditional concept of luxury in favor of a maximal minimalism approach creating a creates a calming contrast with the open plan layout of the store. The tree installation merges architecture with sculpture, giving a unique identity to the space. Alongside the composition, an array of crafted furniture made of marble and precious stones frame the accessories against a base of pale plaster walls.

leather goods are displayed on onyx and jade marble counters

The tree installation by Spacemen design firm is encircled by a composition of precious stones with onyx walls and counters that draw focus to the displays allowing the products to stand out to shoppers. A pair of matching green jade marble-clad counters with glass vitrines display small leather goods at the front of the store. The natural green grains of the material provide a visual connection with the rest of the ‘biophilic’ themed space. Further in, orange onyx display counters add punchy accents to the store. The serene green onyx feature wall which sits at the end of the store is accompanied by a display counter constructed entirely out of clear glass. Two bespoke pieces of furniture are designed for the waiting area for customers. A long curved bench fabricated out of the same green onyx and an oak armchair form the sitting zone. The elegant, nature-referring, and ‘futuristic’ aesthetic redefines the brand’s in-store retail environment into an immersive, engaging, and compelling experience.
