Wait, did you say smart water? LAUFEN Smart is the name of a new system for intelligent and networked water management in public sanitary rooms. Here we present a first impression of it, in part six of our ISH preview of new products.

Even smart technology has not yet made toilets completely self-cleaning. At the ISH fair in Frankfurt, however, LAUFEN will be demonstrating how it still remains a step ahead of humans when it comes to meeting the highest hygiene requirements.

The LAUFEN Smart connective system pursues three goals: making sanitary spaces more hygienic, its management more efficient and, ultimately, also more sustainable

While we seldom think about the people behind the scenes who work day after day to ensure cleanliness in public restrooms, we are more likely to notice when things fall short of being spotless. In many cases, this is not due to insufficient cleaning having been done, but rather because people are unpredictable and sometimes circumstances are such that facilities are overburdened at specific times – think, for example, about theatres, sporting events or airports.

This is where the LAUFEN Smart connective system comes in and pursues three goals: making sanitary spaces more hygienic, its management more efficient and, ultimately, also more sustainable. But how? LAUFEN has developed various functions for this purpose, which, for example, trigger a notification if a toilet facility is being used more than average. In response, an additional cleaning visit can be scheduled or an automatic hygiene flush or thermal disinfection can be carried out. In addition, the system can provide information about any technical problems. And thanks to the LAUFEN Dashboard and SmartControl app, all of this is possible from any location via PC, tablet or smartphone.

Of course, the functions that LAUFEN has packed into its Smart System are far more complex. It bundles touchless washbasin taps, urinal and shower controls as well as shower toilets with intelligent IoT technology. Larger installations can all be connected in a cloud-based system. Individually programmed parameters are used for control, monitoring, maintenance and diagnosis. Water quantities, and therefore also resource and energy consumption, can be reduced as needed, while the system also offers the potential for a reduction in personnel costs.

Experience the system live for the first time, along with other innovations, at the ISH!

LAUFEN can be found in Hall 3.1, Stand B51.
